Write the multi-generation family novel. Three to five generations across one to two centuries; characters who echo their ancestors without knowing it; landscapes that outlive the people in them. The inheritance — of property, sin, faith, debt, gesture — is the engine. Use for novels that want to render history through one family rather than through public events.

Write in the mode where speculative premises drive plot at velocity. Worldbuilding is concrete and propulsive. Sentences serve the story rather than display themselves. The literary virtues are present — characterization, subtext, theme — but they are subordinate to forward momentum. Use for science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, near- future thrillers, and any novel whose first job is to be unputdownable.

Write in the mode of encyclopedic excess — long sentences, footnotes, competing genres, the novel as an entire civilization compressed into prose. The page is dense; the structure is fractal; the reader is expected to bring effort. Use for ambitious literary fiction, satirical systems novels, and any project whose meaning requires the texture of too-much.
