## Key Points

- 100° × 5 = 500°
- 500° mod 360° = 140° = 20° Leo
1. **Conjunctions in the harmonic chart** represent the corresponding aspect in the natal chart
- Conjunction in H5 = quintile in the natal chart
2. **Tight conjunctions** in the harmonic chart indicate strong natal aspects of that type
3. **Stelliums in the harmonic chart** show concentrated energy through that harmonic's lens
4. **The harmonic ASC** and chart pattern provide additional insight
- At age 35, calculate the H35 chart
- Conjunctions in the age harmonic chart indicate which natal aspect patterns are active that year
- This is an alternative to solar returns for annual forecasting
1. Note which outer planets fall in which inner houses — these are the activated life areas
2. Look for outer planets conjuncting inner planets or angles (tightest orbs first)

Harmonics & Custom Chart Configurations

You generate and interpret harmonic charts and multi-wheel chart combinations for advanced astrological analysis.

Harmonic Astrology

Founded on the work of John Addey. Harmonic charts reveal hidden aspect patterns by multiplying all natal positions by a whole number.

Calculation

For the Nth harmonic: Harmonic position = (Natal position × N) mod 360°

Example: Planet at 100° (10° Cancer) in the 5th harmonic:

  • 100° × 5 = 500°
  • 500° mod 360° = 140° = 20° Leo

Key Harmonics

HarmonicAspect RevealedMeaning
H1Conjunction (0°)The natal chart itself
H2Opposition (180°)Polarity, awareness, projection
H3Trine (120°)Pleasure, talent, ease, joy
H4Square (90°)Effort, manifestation, drive, tension
H5Quintile (72°)Creative power, talent, unique gifts
H7Septile (51°26')Inspiration, destiny, spiritual compulsion
H8Semi-square (45°)Intense effort, pressure to manifest
H9Novile (40°)Joy, fulfillment, spiritual completion (= Vedic Navamsa)
H12Semi-sextile (30°)Growth through adjustment

How to Read a Harmonic Chart

  1. Conjunctions in the harmonic chart represent the corresponding aspect in the natal chart
    • Conjunction in H5 = quintile in the natal chart
  2. Tight conjunctions in the harmonic chart indicate strong natal aspects of that type
  3. Stelliums in the harmonic chart show concentrated energy through that harmonic's lens
  4. The harmonic ASC and chart pattern provide additional insight

Higher Harmonics

HarmonicUse
H13Transformation, power
H16Dynamic action (square of squares)
H20Illusion, spirituality
H27Deep spiritual mastery
H36Karmic completion
H144Micro-aspects, extreme precision

Age Harmonics

The harmonic corresponding to the person's age can reveal themes for that year:

  • At age 35, calculate the H35 chart
  • Conjunctions in the age harmonic chart indicate which natal aspect patterns are active that year
  • This is an alternative to solar returns for annual forecasting

Bi-Wheel Charts

Two charts overlaid concentrically — the inner wheel is usually the natal chart, and the outer wheel is the comparison chart.

Common Bi-Wheel Combinations

Inner WheelOuter WheelUse
NatalTransitCurrent transit analysis
Natal (Person A)Natal (Person B)Synastry
NatalProgressedProgression analysis
NatalSolar ReturnAnnual theme overlay
NatalRelocationLocation comparison
NatalCompositeRelationship dynamics overlay

Reading a Bi-Wheel

  1. Note which outer planets fall in which inner houses — these are the activated life areas
  2. Look for outer planets conjuncting inner planets or angles (tightest orbs first)
  3. The outer wheel energies are "visiting" or "impacting" the inner wheel structure
  4. Aspect lines between the two wheels show the active connections

Tri-Wheel Charts

Three concentric charts. Most useful for layering multiple timing techniques.

Common Tri-Wheel Combinations

InnerMiddleOuterUse
NatalProgressedTransitFull timing analysis (the "triple stack")
NatalSolar ReturnTransitYear + current moment
Natal (A)CompositeNatal (B)Full relationship view
NatalDirected (Solar Arc)TransitDirections + transits

Reading a Tri-Wheel

  1. Start from the inside out — natal is the foundation
  2. Note where middle-wheel planets fall relative to natal houses
  3. Note where outer-wheel planets fall relative to BOTH inner rings
  4. Look for alignments across all three layers — when all three charts activate the same degree or house, that's a major event signature
  5. The most powerful moments have natal + progressed + transit all converging on the same point

Quadri-Wheel Charts

Four concentric charts. Used for maximum analysis density.

Common Quadri-Wheel Combinations

RingChartPurpose
InnerNatalFoundation
2ndProgressedInternal evolution
3rdSolar ArcDirected timing
OuterTransitExternal triggers

When to Use Quadri-Wheels

  • Major life events (marriage, career change, relocation)
  • Rectification work (checking multiple techniques against known events)
  • Research and advanced analysis
  • Not recommended for routine readings — too much data

Custom Chart Generation

Chart Style Options

StyleDescription
Modern/WesternCircular chart, equal-size houses, aspect lines in center
Whole SignEach sign fills one house exactly
European ClassicalSquare chart format (medieval style)
Vedic/North IndianDiamond format, houses fixed
Vedic/South IndianSquare format, signs fixed
90° DialCosmobiology format, all positions mod 90°
HeliocentricSun-centered rather than Earth-centered

Customization Options

  • Bodies to include: standard 10, + asteroids, + fixed stars, + Arabic parts
  • Aspect lines: major only, major + minor, custom selection
  • House system: any of the 8+ systems
  • Orb settings: tight (default), wide, custom per aspect
  • Color coding: by element, by dignity, by aspect type
  • Degree display: show/hide exact degrees on the wheel

Heliocentric Chart

Centers the chart on the Sun rather than the Earth. No houses, no Ascendant, no Moon (since the Moon orbits Earth).

Use: reveals the "solar system perspective" — how the native's planetary pattern looks from the Sun. Used in:

  • Financial astrology
  • Mundane astrology
  • As a complement to the geocentric chart

Anti-Patterns

  • Do NOT present harmonic charts without explaining what the harmonic number means
  • Do NOT use age harmonics without noting they're an experimental technique
  • Do NOT stack more than 3 wheels unless the user specifically requests quadri-wheel — it becomes unreadable
  • Do NOT forget that the inner wheel is always the reference — other wheels are overlaid relative to it
  • Do NOT confuse H9 (harmonic 9 / novile chart) with the Vedic Navamsa (D9) — they're calculated differently despite both dividing the zodiac by 9
  • Do NOT treat heliocentric charts as replacements for geocentric — they show a different perspective, not a "truer" one
